The file manager loads but I can not create new folders, view contents of folders below the root or update permissions. No matter what function I try I get the same error below. I have cleared the cache, turned off compression, tried adding the module to a new page etc and nothing works. I am on 562 but this was present in 561 too.

Error - Error: File Manager is currently unavailable.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.FileManager.FileManager.GeneratePermissionsGrid() at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.FileManager.FileManager.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Are all the icons on top of FM disabled also? Are you able to click on Synchronize Files with Recursive turned on? How does the Host->File Manager behave?

Nothing is greyed out or disabled. I can click on any button BUT every one produces the error above. The file manager in the HOST area does the same thing. Every button produces the same error. This site is a child portal. None of the other child portals or the main site have this issue. Tried sync but same error

Renee: One other thing you could try is create a test folder manually using Windows Explorer under that portal id's directory WEBSITE\Portals\X\TestFolder and then do a synchronize again.

please download and install the relevant symbol files (in your case 5.6.2's can be found at http://dotnetnuke.codeplex.com/releases/view/63026 ) - this will allow the line number of the error to be captured and help us diagnose what is going wrong
