I have a need to use simple description on the page but in this text I'd like to be able to point to individual word and open popup box with image, I found and install module that does popup but it does not allow me to specify individual word instead it is making entire description a link other words all my text is one big link vs single word.

is there a way to use simple HTML module type text and create popup image when hovering over single word?

This can probably be best achieved with a jquery tip/popup/lightbox type tool.
Cluetip is a very powerful tool which we have used with dnn in a couple of this.

www.brandinggolf.com.au  here is it being used to add fancy themed hover tips - hover over the app style buttons in the body of the page.

This site shows a lot more demos of it doing basically the sorts of things you are talking about.
