I just upgraded from 05.06.00 to 06.00.00 and having issue logging in as host or admin. When I login as admin or host, there are not Host or Admin Menus and I also do not see the control panel at the top. It is as if I have logged in as a regular DNN user. There is no error message presented, there are no entries in the windows event log. If I enter an invalid password it indicates that the login failed (as expected). When I enter the correct password it appears as if I am logged in, but I do not have any of the host or admin features. In addition the "Login" hyperlink does not change to a "Logout" hyperlink.

Anyone else have similar experience? Solution?

Thanks,

David

Hi David, everything has changed! Admin and Host are now accessed via a menu at the top. Do you see Admin, Host, Modules, Pages and Tools plus a drop down Mode box at the top of the screen? If not, then it's possibly to do with your skin, try switching to Dark Knight and if you can see the new menu bar, your skin might need updating..

I did the exact same upgrade. Other than a custom skin, my install was stock 5.6.0. I too cannot access Admin and Host pages. The links appear in the control panel up above, but when I click on either, I just get blank pages. I changed to the DarkKnight skin and it didn't help. I even tried the trick with adding a space into a non-critical spot of my web.config and that didn't help either.

I did see a post recommending upgrading to DNN 5.6.3 before upgrading to DNN 6 but don't know if that is the problem. Can you access Admin by adding '/Admin.aspx' to the end of your domain name?

theres a known issue with duplicate skins that causes admin/host problems -the workaround is to delete the duplicate skins (see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Forums/forumid/190/postid/424459/scope/posts.aspx)
