Hello,

I just upgraded from 5.6 to 6.0 and as a result, when I log in, my Admin and Host tabs are missing (this may be a normal 5.6 thing, but just throwing it out there). When I access the Host or Admin summary page (Admin.aspx) and then from there try to access any of the options, i.e. Site Log, I get a redirect loop error. The url that it is trying to go to as a result is: http://thedynoroom.com/Default.aspx?t...

This webpage has a redirect loop

The webpage at http://thedynoroom.com/Default.aspx?tabid=51&def=ErrorMessage has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

Here are some suggestions:

Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.

The admin/host tabs missing is by design, you access those pages from the Control Panel now.

As for the redirect and site log issue, you might need to EventLog table to get more information about the error that is occurring.

We recommend that folks do upgrades in test environments to check for these types of issues before using in Production.

Any chance you have a backup you could restore and try it again? Did anything error out during the upgrade.

Chris,

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I did have an error on the upgrade with the install of :
  • Installing Package File Telerik_06.00.00_Install: Error!
  • Installing Package File TelerikEditorProvider_05.06.03_Install: Error!
And going into the DB directly I see the event log with the following description, which points to the source being the above upgrade issues....

So how do I go about addressing the upgrade issues with the Telerik installs? Where are upgrade logs stored? Can I just re-install the Telerik part?

Ok, so I solved the one issue of Installing Package File Telerik_06.00.00_Install: Error!
Which in turn solved my original issue in this post. I solved it by copying the new Telerik.Web.UI.dll from the Telerik_06.00.00_Install.zip that comes in the DNN 6.0 upgrade zip over the old one in the \bin directory. And then doing this: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/3102/Difficulties-with-Telerik-during-upgrade-to-5-6-3.aspx

Next: trying to solve Installing Package File TelerikEditorProvider_05.06.03_Install: Error! I have tried to re-install just this via the Extension manager to no avail..but will open new thread for this...after I dig a bit first.
