Hello,

I've just created a simple test project using Chris Hammond's module template.
Envirnment is: W7 Ultimate, VS 2010 SP1, DNN 6

The project builds just fine, installs into DNN without error but it crashes the DNN site when I try to get to it (click Return after install) and I get this error: "This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded..."

Deleting the module folder and dll allows DNN to run again.

I've tripple checked every reference I have and can only think that I have something on my machine that is later than that where the DNN 6 solution was built, hence the error. BUT I might be completely wrong.

Can someone please advise.

you need to use same or previous version of dotnetnuke.dll to build your module than being used on your web site.

Sebastien, I am using the same dll that is in DNN 6.0, I reference it from my module project...

It all compiles, installs into DNN 6.0 but crashes when navigated to.

Did you happen maybe to build this module from inside a dnn source code build,
Doing a BUILD of the source code in RELEASE mode can create references to a new version of the dotnetnuke.dll

Westa,

I never compile the DNN source and only ever develop modules against the Install version.

Found the problem though (I think). My IIS target framework for this install was pointing at .Net 2.0 !! Looking at host settings, the target framework was said to be 3.5. (don't ask...). The moment I changed it in IIS to 4.0, the module runs in DNN.

Thanks
