I'd like to be able to customize the list view as well as the associated form view. I see you can use custom XSLT for the list view...but how to customize the Form view? I understand that you can create a custom XSLT for the list view to look like a form...but I want to combine both...have a list view that is sortable, searchable, etc...then have a "view details" link that shows a customized form view (larger context, I want to use this like an employee directory).

Not sure if you are really asking to be able to cutomize the "Form" view.  Sounds more like you are talking about customising the "Details" view of a list.

There is a sample XSLT on the site that has an initial view that is a list and then you click on the "view details" link to view that particular record in more detail.  That may be what you are describing.

You can  find the sample XSLT here and review how they did it and even modify and resave it for your own use.  wwwroot/DesktopModules/UserDefinedTable/xslstylesheets/advancedtable.xsl

You can also demo it by selecting "XSLT using built-in stylesheets" and then selecting it from the drop menu in the "Form and List Configuration".
