Thanks to all who have voiced an opinion and offered to help.
I believe I am getting closer. This may still be a godaddy thing, but i think i did everything right (after 5 or 10 tries).
The dnn dir is “/wg”.
my problem: after new portal setup, and with all the godaddy aliases, there are still no pages in the new portal subdirectory.
(except for again
/cache
/images
/templates
/users
logo.png
portal.css)
I tried manually copying all the existing .aspx pages into this portal dir after the setup and get "server 500" errors when trying to access the home page.
if I place a test default.html I do get that page when accessing the alias (that is trying http://tnpc.nwg.com)
below are my procedures: what am i not doing???
first the godaddy setup:
1. create/manage subdomain “tnpc” located in /wg/tnpc
2. subdomain tnpc.nwg.com forwarded to www.nwg.com/wg/tnpc
Now in dnn the create new portal:
portal type – parent
portal alias – tnpc.nwg.com
home dir - /tnpc (btw, I tried using the default and applying all these settings to /wg/portals/4 )
title – test npc
descr – test npc
keywords - blank
template – default website
Note that once the portal is in place, I did add all aliases as earlier referenced so that the portal alias list is:
tnpc. nwg.com
tnpc. nwg.com/wg
tnpc. nwg.com/wg/tnpc (this one is forwarded)
nwg.com/wg/tnpc
please excuse my thickness. And, i am still looking for official documentation aside from filling in textboxes in the add portal page. Thanks very much!
