Guys, this is what I get (see error below) after ftp-ing the upgrade package into the wwwroot folder, overwriting all in DNN.

NOT a disaster as this was a test DNN site I normally hit before prod. BUT, would like to know what is going on here.
web.config has been amended appropriately etc.

when I follow the link (www.mywebsite.com/install/install.aspx?mode=install) the site to initialise the upgrade process, I get the error below.

DNN 5.4 targeting .Net 3.5 trying to upgrade to DNN 6.0

Any ideas?

thanks

This error is due to the effority.userdirectory module you have installed.  You should check and see if they have a newer version available.

Basically - the code is referencing "Collections" - which the page can't decipher which "Collections" to use as the page has references that enable it to use either the System.Collections or to use a DotNetNuke version.

Hope this helps

Thanks Andrew, I'll look at that.

Probably need to reinstall the whole DNN 5.4 site first, uninstall that module/skin, re-try the upgrade to 6.0

At least that module/skin is not on the prod site.

Thanks again.

It's also recomended that you follow the suggested upgrade path to DNN6, see
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Suggested_Upgrade_Path.aspx

OK, looked at that. Thanks for the link...

Question: am I copying the unzipped files over the original site OR the new (restored from backup) site? It isn't 100% clear but maybe I'm misunderstanding....

Thanks
