Hi,
Firstly I apologise for the length of the post!
We currently have a DNN forum installed on a website that should be going live shortly. I have a few questions that I’m hoping someone will be able to answer. I’ve customised as much as I can, read the most up to date manual I have been given, and without going into any detail the nature of the forum is extremely sensitive so these questions may seem like I’m nit picking unnecessarily so bear with me.
The forum we use currently has an option of Bold, Italic and an anchor for using to link and they are regularly used by forum members. The new DNN forum has either the ability for rich text and full formatting, or basic text, in which case there is no formatting of any kind. We have been advised by the web designers we can have one or the other; we can’t customise the forum to have the formatting we require. I know this question sounds like I don’t believe what I am being told but do we have any options other than the black and white we are given? Is there any other way round this? Can the formatting be customised in any way at all? Will I have to add ‘moderation’ to the forum to format the posts manually before they go live?
We are also finding that test posts and threads that we are generating in rich text seem to randomly generate different text sizes depending on the username we use. If I use the Moderator login I see one size, yet if I generate a username and post its different again. Can anyone explain to me why this might happen and how I amend it?
Forum admin/users and post editing - If I go into a forum username I can edit the posts which we don’t want within this forum. What do I put in post editing time to stop this happening, do I just add a random high number as at the moment its on 0 for indefinitely.
We currently moderate manually and regularly, the posts go live immediately and we have no wish to change this as very often support is then delayed but I’m concerned our users will encounter more problems than on our already established forum. Having said that the forum has so many good features it would seems a shame if we had to rethink our entire strategy.
I hope this is clear, but would welcome pointers/directions if possible.
Many thanks
Jackie
