Hi

I'm trying to get dotnetnuke to switch core language based on the browser locale.

I am using Firefox and with the Quick Locale Switcher add-on to make life easier (although I have tried it manually).

I have tested both dnn 5.6.3 and dnn 6.0 and I get the same undesirable result.  Changing browser locale does not change language.
I have 'enable browser detection' set and I have installed French language packs.

If I click the flags that have appeared in the skin then the language is changed correctly for both versions of dnn. But changing browser locale does nothing.

Am I doing something wrong?  I don't want my users to have to click a flag.

thanks
Gus

browser language will be read upon first visit and stored in a cookie. you need to clear your local browser cookies to re-read browser language.

Yes I know.

I have tried deleting all the language cookies over and again and re-starting the browser but it does not work. I only use the locale switcher add on to save all the fiddling about.

Are you able to replicate this issue yourself?

I have also noticed that if I switch to French using the flag I get a site with different admin settings. So the settings I have for the login and registration pages have to be set again for each language.  Is this the expected behaviour?

thanks
Gus

I need to check behaviour myself, haven't had the time yet.
A couple of site settings are per language, especially special pages, which is required by core "content localization" solution, which uses language specific pages.

I think this issue may have been caused by the locale switcher add-on I was using for Firefox.

But i don't know why it upset chrome and IE too?  I removed it and re-booted and the localisation seems to work now.

However, I now have another problem.  Whatever i do the password reminder email is never localised.
The registration email is localised perfectly but even though I have installed a French lang pack and check the translation the email is always sent in English.

Anyone else able to replicate this problem?

Gus
