Have upgraded a site of mine to 5.6.3 from 4.9.5, largely successfully but I now have a small quandary.

I am using DNNGarden's menu, so in 4.9.5 I upgraded it to 2.00.01 then I upgraded the site to 5.6.3 and .Net 4 and I got errors and couldn't get to the host/modules page and so couldn't upgrade to the .Net 3.5 version.

I then downloaded the Menu zip file and extracted the bin folder and copied the contents into the bin folder on the website, this got me my pages and menus working, so I went tried uploading the menu zip, ticked the box about repairing and received the "Failure Install aborted - New Version older than Installed Version - DDRMenu" message.

Clearly this wasn't the right way of doing it, what order should I have used?

Many thanks

Barry

the message is coming from the package installer and is being shown as you manually amended the files but not the database references - i think you can resolve this by going to the packages or desktopmodules tables, finding a ddrmenu entry and changing the version (note: i haven't tried this so am not 100% sure where the entry should be but it should have a package entry)

Hi Cathal,

Thanks for this, I thought we were on the right track but it didn't work, I also tried changing the package version, but that didn't help either.  So then I unzip'd the archive so that the items got new 'last modified by' dates, re-zip'd it and tried again, that didn't work either.

I have backups of the site and database at 4.9.5 and will happily go back to them; it's the order in which I need to do this when I come to do it live that I can't work out.

Cheers

Barry

I think in that situation the best order is to upgrade DNN first, then upgrade DDRMenu, then upgrade .NET.

Thanks Mark,  I went back to my backups and did it properly, so I've now got to 5.6.3 on .net 4 still with ddrMenu 1.02.02.

However, I can't upgrade to 2.00.1, I'm getting this error

Package Installation Report

See below for the results of the package installation
Error loading files from temporary folder - see below
StartJob Starting Installation
Info Starting Installation - DDRMenu
Failure Install aborted - New Version older than Installed Version - DDRMenu
Failure Install aborted - New Version older than Installed Version
Info Installation Failed - DDRMenu
Info Deleted temporary install folder
EndJob Installation Failed

Completely foxed now.
