Here is what will answered on a similar question on the Community Exchange

 Active Forums isn't being added to the core. A new forum module is being built which incorporates the best of Active Forums and DotNetNuke Forums. This module should be released very shortly. Active Social core integration will be available in DotNetNuke 6.2, which is scheduled for late Q2 this year.

Thanks for the update. At least they didn't stop working on it..

I, however, do hope that they still plan on making good migration tools available for those of us using the current Forums-module. Nothing is mentioned about that in Will's update.

migration scripts will be made available -they were created for us to migrate the content here on dotnetnuke.com and will be released alongside the module.
