Hi Guys,

I sucessfully installed DNN 601 on a VM with Win 2008R2, IIS7 and SQLExpress.

Everything is working fine - but when I went looking in the SQL Server Management studio I cannot find the database.

I found a script on a website that supposedly locates your master MDF file - and it came back with the MDF being in the NETWORK Service folder:

C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data\SQLEXPRESS

There are several MDFs there including a master and msdbdata.

I tried to attach these to the SQL Server Man Studio but they failed.

The connection string from the web.config is:

I did not edit the web.config before installing but I do have WebsitePanel installed. However not sure where this 2005/2008 connection string came from.

So my questions are:

Is this installation normal??
which database file actually holds my DNN site?
How do I get access in SQL Server Man Studio?

I have dug a bit further.

The database is use by Network Service is the master.mdf with in its AppData Local ..... folder - I was able to back it up using the DNN Backup module - (Thanks Nova). I had to get another tool to open it as a virtual database in my Management Server and was able to confirm that it was correct and had all the tables for my DNN sites.

At this stage I think I will try a rebuild of the website and try a fresh DB install- hopefully this time it will create a DB in the SQLEXPRESS Data folder rather than under the Network Service folder.

According to the SQL Server Config tool the startup parameters show the default master db to be that in the program files SQL folder etc.

why then does Network Service have its own local master db etc????

This is my first experience with Express - I normally use a full server and have never had these sorts of issues.
