I know this isnt specifically a installation issue but i figure you guys would be able to assist. i am by no means a web dev expert but i know a thing or too. I had the packaged version installed first and started developing modules for it but i was having trouble debugging those modules so i figured I would go with the source version. I have downloaded it and unpackaged it etc, but when i start the project ( with the web portal as the start up project ) it tells me port 80 is in use. I run the netstat command but i am not seeing anything on that port and I am running IIS Express 7.5 and cannot figure out how to view it like i would normal IIS. So I am not really sure what to do at this point, any suggestions?

You should use the "Attach to Process" method to debug a DNN module.
1. Make sure your module source code are under the folder "~DeskModules"
2. In you VS2010, select "Tools"-->"Attach a Process"
3. In the popup, select "w3p.exe" and click "Attach"
4. Then refresh the page which your module are added to
