Hi

does anyone else have untold trouble with the core registration, login and profile update features in dnn?

I mean they are impossible to skin, there is critical functionality that's just not there and there is no sign of any improvement on the horizon. Having all those things lumped into one module doesn't help either.

If you've ever tried to customise a dnn site to a customers needs (most customers) you will know what I mean. And don't get me started on localisation..  just tracking down the resources is a real headache, not to mention trying to add 20 languages in that awful language editor.

I've tried all the 3rd party modules out there and didn't think much of them either.

How is everyone else out there coping?  Living with the core functionality?  Written your own?  Using Data Springs?

Be interested to know.

thanks
Gus

ps: one of the most frustrating feature is when updating user profile there is no message to indicate success or failure and no redirection. User has no idea if they updated their email or not. So they keep clicking the button. Brilliant.

please note, profile/login/registration are on our roadmap to look at and at the minute many look like they will be in 5.2.0 (which will be q1/q2 2012). As to your final point please raise a bug at support.dotnetnuke.com

Hi Cathal,

that's great to hear. I can't wait!

I'll post that issue to support.

Gus

ps: Don't know what you mean by 5.2?  Did you mean 6.2?

of course, Cathal is referring to DNN 6.2.0, which is expected to be released in first half of 2012.
