Dear All,

I attempted to move my DNN site to a new directory within the same server (win 2008, IIS 7). All I did to do this was repoint IIS to the dotnetnuke install as the folder was a sub of my old html website and I wanted the sub folder to become the root folder. After doing this all I got was "This site is under maintenance message". So I repointed IIS back at the original root folder and now I still get the same message when loading the site however when I got www.mysiteurl.comt/dotnetnuke/install/install.aspx I get the following:

Error Installing DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 6.0.2

ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

I want to cry as I spent a lot of time recreating my site in DNN. I had backed up my site manually by copying the entire directory and zipping it up.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Andre

Try this,

Open web.config,
1. write something like aaa
2. delete all text you write ("aaa")
3. finally save web.config.

With this you'll restart the DNN.

Hi Alberta,

Thank you for the fast reply.

Strangely I cannot find the web.config anywhere in the directory - perhaps this is the problem. Is there a template I can use to 'recreate' it?

Hi Albert,

Thanks for the fast reply. I did as you suggested and when I hit refresh I now get this error:

Server Error in '/dotnetnuke' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

You mentioned you manually backed everything up - it should be in your zipped folder.
