Hi!

The tutorial does have some issues. Great work, but does not include enough information, and the information missing can cause beginners to be confused.

Important to remember that he uses the .html version of creating skins. This means that you have to import each file so that the ascx-controls are created. You can simply just update the ascx-file and use the tags described in here http://www.thinkofdesign.com/resources/dotnetnuke-skinning-reference/#obj-nav

When it comes to your problem with the layout, it is caused by some issues in his initial css. This is not present in the complete source download (in part 4), so I suggest you download this, and go from there. I.E. the #header section is missing the position: relative; wich causes the problems that you describe. The aouthor should update this, but I would not hold my breath. We are still waiting for part 6 of the series.... :)

Hey!

Thanks for your post. I find everything helpful.

Actually adding "position:relative;" to the header section did not help, but I have downloaded the skin install package from part 4 of the tutorial and the files I found in the package helped me solve the problem. There were some minor differences between my files and the files from the package (html and css). Really minor stuff - I would definitely keep having hard time diagnosing these issues by myself, without the reference.

Thanks again. Now I am ready to continue the work.

Regards.
