Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help please?

I have a very old installation of DNN 4.9.5 running on a shared server.

I have been trying to develop a custom module that uses the Bing Maps SOAP Webervice but the only way I can get the module to work on my dev machine is to run it using .Net Framework 3.5

My live server is currently running 2.0.50727.3625

Is it as simple as just contacting my hosting provider and asking them to configure IIS to run my site using .Net Framework 3.5

Is there any reason why this might break my live site please?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

Trevor

If your server is running 2.0.50727.3625 it is already running 3.5.

ASP.Net 3.5. is an extention of the number 2 framwork.

First with version 4 the number changed to 4.xxxxx

Is it smart no... but this is how it is.

As an extra piece of information that might well help someone in the future.

If you have started developing a module using .net framework 3.5, put it live and it won't work.  Have a look in your web.config and make sure it has the following to tell it to compile using .net 3.5 not 2...

<providerOption name="CompilerVersion" value="v3.5"/><
providerOption name="OptionInfer" value="true"/>
<providerOption name="WarnAsError" value="false"/>
