If you place a DNNLabelEdit in a repeater control, it will always return to callBackFail function because the template  item has not been instantiated yet. I have to call DataBind on repeater in OnInit to get it pass the callBackFail, but that's not something I want to do. Is there any quick fix for this? Can I ovverride callBackFail so it won't set it to previous text?

For a callback to work, the server-side needs to be able to find the control before the load event.  This document details the callback's life-cycle.  I am not aware of any workaround for this.
