did you properly unblock the upgrade zip file prior to unpacking it?
Also make sure, the Windows account used by ASP.Net (as configured in your IIS app pool) has full file system permission for the DNN directory and all subfolders.
I'd restore file and database backups and retry.

Sebastian,

What do you mean by 'properly unblocking the zip' before unpacking?

For clarification purposes, I copied my files to my local machine, unzipped the upgrade file, copied the files into my site folder (overwriting the files). Then I uploaded the files back to my site.

I will check the permissions but I'm pretty sure they are correct. I say that because in the upgrade results, the errors are sections that were successful previously. It's just some of higher versions of the steps failed. (ie: upgrading 06.00.01 to 06.00.02 passes but 06.00.02 to 06.01.01 fails) not saying that is exactly what is happening, but it appears that something of that nature is happening.

if downloading a file from the Internet, some Windows version block the file. right click the file, select properties and make sure, there is NO unblock button displayed on the bottom of the first tab.

Sabastian,

I never knew about that UNBLOCK feature.  First time I ever saw it.  I did UNBLOCK the ZIP file as you suggested and I tried performing the upgrade again.  Same exact error...ended up with a non-functional site again.

:-(
