I just installed DNN 06.01.01 and in the Hosts > Extensions > Available Extensions I only see Razor Host, nothing else.  Where did all the other extensions go?

Cathal,

Thanks for responding.  I am aware of how to install modules manually and such.  I was just wondering why the "Available Extensions" tab is basically now empty.  In version 06.00.01 it showed all the additional modules from the core, that were not installed.  Now in version 06.01.01 it doesn't show any of them, only the Razor one is in the list.  Wasn't sure if I did something wrong in the install or if it was a bug or what.

Ultimately I just manually downloaded and installed the additional core modules I needed.

Glad you got things sorted. There are a few reasons why we removed the 'defaulf' modules from available modules

  • encourage people to use the latest version of the module and not an old version - in some cases modules that shipped with dotnetnuke later had issues e.g. the chat module broke in dnn 5.x . Rather than have someone install an old version that came with a previous dotnetnuke release, downloading the latest version helps ensure that the module works as expected (this also helps ensure that "old" versions with known security issues dont get deployed simply because they're the default available version)
  • enhance competion - modules that shipped with dotnetnuke became defacto "standards" - however there are alternatives that often have more releases, more features or are more active. By removing the defaults this gives all modules a fair chance to become best-of-breed in their category, stimuating competion and development
  • reduce the size of the download - removing the modules reduced the download by ~10% -this helps with countries that have poorer download speeds
  • encourage discoverability - by removing the defaults people will (hopefully) use the "more extensions" area and see a series of options that they can use.

Thanks.

So how do I actually find the core blog module? I searched via the "More Extensions" tab but can only find marketplace blog modules. How do I locate the basic core module that used to come with DNN?
