Hi,

This is happening on a few of my sites running 6.1.1 - the tooltips are rendering behind other controls on the form (i.e. the textboxes on the forms)

What is the reason for this.  And is there a workaround?

Google 'Z Order'
It has to do with which order the UI/UX items are set to render in CSS.
For some reason, in some instances, the browser will not render in the defined order but out of order as in your case, it's the tooltips
What OS/browser combo are you using?

 Thanks for the reply.

I'm seeing this behaviour in IE 7 and 8.  With the latest versions of Firefox, Safari and Chrome the tooltips are rendering just fine.

So what should I be checking specifically with respect to the tooltips?  My client uses IE as a standard so I have to get this figured out to get the tooltips work properly with IE....

Would it be something in the skin.css or portal.css file?

Hi Allan,

I have not seen this issue before. But as Ken mentioned, it's more likely be the Z-index issue. It also might be how the skin is designed that is override the default z-index value. Have you tried inspecting the elements and see if other CSS selectors might override the default values?

There are no Z-Index references in my skin.css file or in the portal.css file.  The _default/default.css file has a number of Z-Index properties - but these have not been changed.

Just upgraded to DNN 6.1.2 earlier this week - latest version - and the issue persists with IE...

This screenshot illustrates the issue.

Windows 7, IIS 7, IE 8.

Note:  Tooltips work OK in Chrome, FireFox and Safari.
