Hi all,

New to the forums.. with an old question about godaddy from what I gather.. hope no one minds.

I read what posts I could find about installing DNN on godaddy before  I decided to leave a post with the intent to install. The last the thing I want is to riddle the forums with questions on something that appears to be answered. The problem is I've found some obstacles which has brought me here. I'm unclear on whether it can or cannot be done with or with-out problems.

I have a deluxe hosting account .. Can  DNN be installed on the Deluxe plan or is it the Virtual plan?  On the Deluxe, I cannot find settings, permissions, nor ms sql.. only mysql. It appears as though Virtual hosting is an entirely different plan. if any one has had experience with this. would you please help to clear the confusion... I'm reluctant in asking godaddy support right now.

DNN can be installed in the Deluxe plan (if windows and preferably ASP.NET 2.0) as a simple click but you don't have access to the MSSQL files or any files as I see it. Works well and great way to start. There is a lot of discussion in these and other forums on how to install it yourself on a subdirectory (easier) or at the root level (hard). I had no luck with any of the suggestions in these and ASP.NET forums but I am sure if you know enough and persist you can do it. Do a search for GoDaddy and you will get heaps of discussion and you too can be as confused and learn how to get 10 different error messages.

GoDaddy is VERY unhelpful in this regard. Not sure how they will handle upgrades or data backup.

As I understand it using the GoDaddy installed version does not use up your 1 MSSQL licence nor the DB memory limit.

Have fun!
