I am wondering if there's a way to have one package but multiple modules.  So when I install the package it would create multiple "module extentions" to be placed on pages.

I'm using christoc templates and visual web developer 2010 (Express),  I'm hoping it is a simple as add information to the .dnn files.  I tried just adding additional  <component type="Module"> but that did not work.

So if there is anyone out there that can help I would appreciate it..

Thanks In Advance

Joe

yes, it's entirely possible - you just need to put multiple module nodes within the modules node - the blogs module is a good example of this - heres an extract from it's dnn manifest file

<modules>
    <module>
     <friendlyname>View_Blog</friendlyname>
     <cachetime>-1</cachetime>
     <controls>
      <control>
       <title>View Blog</title>
       <src>DesktopModules/Blog/MainView.ascx</src>
       <type>View</type>
      </control>
      <control>
       <key>View_Entry</key>
       <title>View Entry</title>
       <src>DesktopModules/Blog/ViewEntry.ascx</src>
       <type>View</type>
      </control>
      <control>

...other defintions

</module>
    <module>

By the way, there is full manifest documentation at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...

Hello,

As Cathal notes, you can definitely install multiple modules at once...

However, does anybody know of a way where the modules can be lumped together for the purposes of an uninstall? I really noticed it, for example, with some of the "store" modules out there that have many different components. Uninstalling them can take a while because you have to do each component separately. I've tried setting some dependencies, but, as far as I could tell, the dependencies also didn't trigger an uninstall.

Is there maybe something I can include in a manifest to allow a single item to uninstall everything in the same package?

Thanks,

Mike

I might be misunderstanding.  But what I would like is to do this.

MyPackage
  -- View1
  -- View2
  -- View3

Now on the a page I want to edit, I would like to be able to ONLY add View two.  On another page add  ONLY View1 and View2.  So will the method you menioned work or would I need to create multiple packages with in the .dnn for each view I want to use seperately one each page.  So in this example I would need 3 seperate packages to show up in the "Add Modules" dropdown?

Thanks Joe

 Thats a great point.. That would be useful both as a developer and user.
