So, I get the error below. I thought it was caused by my web.config when I was trying to get rid of a module. Any ideas?

An error has occurred. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.DesktopModulePermissionController.GetDesktopModulePermissions(Int32 portalDesktopModuleID) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.PortalDesktopModuleInfo.get_Permissions() at DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.DesktopModuleController.GetPortalDesktopModules(Int32 portalID) at DotNetNuke.Web.UI.WebControls.DnnModuleComboBox.GetPortalDesktopModules() at DotNetNuke.Web.UI.WebControls.DnnModuleComboBox.BindAllPortalDesktopModules() at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlPanel.AddModule.LoadModuleList() at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlPanel.AddModule.LoadAllLists() at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlPanel.AddModule.OnLoad(EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Had a meeting so wasn't able to give more details. This appears in the modules tab of the ribbon bar and prevents me from creating more modules. Not sure where the problem is coming from.

Okay, checked out the event viewer and these were the two exceptions that kept happening.

Module Load Exception
ModuleId -1 ModuleDefId -1 FriendlyName

You said that "I thought it was caused by my web.config when I was trying to get rid of a module."

Did you make any modifications to the web.config file or the database tables?

What happens when you are logged in as host user you open the Host->Extensions page? Are you able to open a particular module extension and check that in the Assigned Premium Modules double list box it is assigned to the proper portal (s).?

What happens when logged in as admin or host user you open the Admin->Extensions page? Are you able to click on the edit pencil beside a particular module extension and check that at least Administrators role has Deploy permission?

Are modules that were placed on the page before the issue occurred displaying properly? Are you able ot open an existing module's settings page?

Had help from DNN Support. It was being caused by a missing table in the Database. DesktopModulesPermissions if I remember correctly.
