Greetings,

We have been using DNN on our school's web site for about a year now and are starting to explore some of the other modules such as Form and List.

We recently tried to add Form and List as a contact form using the email notification options. All was fine until we discovered an issue with the page position after submission.

Our test form contains about 25 fields along with separates acting as fieldsets; most of the fields are required. So the form is a bit long but reflects those used regularly at our institution.

When the form is submitted incomplete, the postback occurs and the table indicating missed fields does appear at the top of the module as anticipated. However, the page position after postback returns about halfway down the page, completely bypassing the required fields listing. I've tested this on Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer on Win7.

Has anyone else had this issue? I went to the Form and List web site and tested their form and noticed similar behaviour, although their feedback form is only a few fields long.

For us, this is pretty much a dealbreaker. And our web admin was a bit curious as to why the alert for the required fields was not presented as a pop-up rather than inline.

We are running a little behind on our DNN version due to our existing set upgrade windows. We are currently at DNN Professional Edition 5.6.2 and Form and List 5.0.3. We don't expect to be upgrading the core until the summer months, but we could certainly upgrade to the current Form and List if that would remedy this issue.

A test page exists at this address:

Any advice for a remedy is greatly appreciated.

Hi Cuthbertson

 I can replicate this behaviour.
IMO: FandL is an amazing and versatile module but its strengths are in the {data types, xslt, tokens, etc} and the form side is still a bit clunky.
FandL used to be called User Defined Table  It was a quick way to use data grids based on user input.

If it was my site I would invest in a form module. They are not too expensive and provide better form formatting.
Many long forms often need fields displayed based on previous choices and all the form modules can do this now.
Most have trials so you can find one that fits.

David, while that is an interesting solution for hand-coded forms, it does not resolve our issues with the Form and List module. Thanks for posting. We will have to wait until the next release to see if the creators of that module have put forward a remedy.

I use FormToWizard with Form and List, for "long" forms... and it's a great feature.

For your problem, use DNN 6.1.3 and FnL 5.1.3 and you have the solution.

David.
