Hello,

 im brand new to DNN - and have just downloaded this morning. Ive managed to get to grips with the creating a new site and pages part, but Im struggling in trying to get my site to be a 100% width / full page width .

 Is it possible to do this through the HOST or ADMIN pages/options? If so can someone point me in the right direction.

 Im trying to end up with a header, a left and right column that wont change much, and then a central content.area - all of this filling the whole page.

 I wanted to change the default layout/template just to see how it works , but cannot for the life of me work it out. Ive been googling this for the past few hours.

Thankyou,

Matt

Matt,

Welcome to DotNetNuke! You should be able to control the page width in the "skin" file for your site. The skins should be located in the "Portals/_default/Skins" folder (if they were uploaded by the host).  You can modify the CSS properties & layout of the site in the files in the skin folder.

If you're using the default skin of "DarkKnight" check the skin.css file and look for  & edit this property (line 38):
    #Panes{width:960px;margin:auto;}

There are specifications for several widths in the skin.css that you can alter.

Another good place to look for info is in the video section of this site ...check the "skinning" videos - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/V...

Keep us posted on your progress,

Wow that worked straight away for the layout!! Now I want to use the 3 column layout - so im presuming that its the following that i change to fit the "full width" style i want.

#DNN6.ThreeCol #dnn_LeftPane{float:left;width:180px;margin:0 30px 0 0;}
#DNN6.ThreeCol #dnn_CenterPane{float:left;width:470px;margin:0 30px 0 0;}
#DNN6.ThreeCol #dnn_RightPane{float:left;width:250px;}

Is there a standard template for fluid centre but fixed sides? or is it a case of experimenting?

thanks again!

Great! Glad you got it to work and are making progress!

I think you may be able to achieve that by setting your right & left pane widths to a specific pixel size, then set the center pane to 100% so that it would fill up as much space as possible in the browser. Though it would probably be best (for a fluid layout) to set all panes as percentages. Say left pane 20% center pane 60% and right pane 20%. If percentages don't work try setting them via "ems".

Here again, I've never attempted a layout like this so my suggestions may not work correctly.
