Hello,

I am trying to set up one of our users so they can update a text/html module's content/links.  I do not want them to have full edit rights on the page though for other modules.  What I did was just granted that user Edit rights to that module.  When I tested that users login and saw what they can edit on the page, it only showed regular view form.  Basically there was no container around the text/html module i wanted them to edit.  When I clicked on the content in the module however, i was able to edit it.  Here is my issue with this, this is only content editable, this user won't be able to edit the source and update the hyperlink or something of that nature.  The only way I can do it is give them the link to the edit page and once they login to the site, copy it into their URL and browse to it manually but not through the site.  For example:

this is the link to the page i want them to have edit rights to a module:

http://<website>/News/tabid/74/Default.aspx

Here is the actual edit page where they can edit the source:

http://<website>/News/tabid/74/ctl/Edit/mid/1576/Default.aspx

There is no way for them to link from the main page to the edit page directly without manually pasting in the URL.  Is there a way to do this that is more user friendly that I am missing?

Thanks,

Jeff M.

please ensure that when testing as the user, that they have selected the "edit" value in the drop-down in the top right (admins/hosts start out as edit mode, other users start out as view mode)

Anyone have any idea?  This has to have happened before.  If i don't grant edit rights to the ENTIRE page and just one module, even in edit mode the module that should be editable looks like it is in view mode until you click in its area, and once you do it just gives a red box around the edges so you can edit the content.  it does not let you view source etc as it does not have the container.  Any ideas on a way around this?  This seems dumb to give edit rights to a module and it not actually being able to edit the full module.
