Hi,

Thanks for the link.  How do I find the encrypting key and validation key?  I'm basically trying to transfer the DB from one SQL 2000 server to another SQL 2000 server.  The site is still served on the same IIS server.  So my webconfig shouldn't really change should it?  The only thing I changed was the connection string to the new SQL server.  The orginal webconfi doesn't have those entries.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

Please download the documentation zip for any DNN4 version and read the Installation Guide, look for the part about upgrading.

Using the UPGRADE package, I get a successful completion of an upgrade from 4.0.3 to 4.3.0 - and my portal comes up OK.  But when I attempt to login I get:

A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

... with the error showing right at the top of the content pane, inline with the portal's default/anonymous homepage, right where I was before attempting login.

I searched (this forum) for this error, but it doesn't seem to be an upgrade particular error.  Does anyone have any more specific suggestions for resolution?  Thanks...
