I am still a DNN newbie. The HTML module is great for developers like me who thrive on HTML level content. But I am developing a site for a client who probably won't be doing HTML level content.

Much of the site will have repeatable content with the same layout structure. For example some h1, h2, etc. type elements and other text below it in p elements. It would be very helpful to have some sort of module that opens a dialog that allows users to enter the header text in one text box and the paragraph text in another box. There could even be a control to select or upload an image. The main idea is to keep the content editors from knowing HTML. The HTML specific structure would be generated in the background hidden from the content editor.

I am certain DNN has a mechanism for this, but the solution eludes me. I am proficient in ASP.NET and could grasp creating a custom module if need be.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Check out Ventrian Propery Manager. It's a module that lets you build custom content pages and forms like you are talking about. Plus his modules are only 60 bucks a year for all modules and upgrades. ventrian.com

Thanks David!

It looks like it is now called the Property Agent.

I don't see a trial version. It would be nice to test drive before buying. The price is more than reasonable, but I can't authorize purchases at my job.

Property Agent and News Articles from Ventrian are both great for posting content. However they don't currently add pages or nav structures to DNN. If you need that as a feature you could consider using both Page Templates and Content Templates. The HTML editor is pretty WYSIWYG and most users can accomplish the basics if the page is "laid out" for them.

Thanks for the reply Steven!

Please explain "However they don't currently add pages or nav structures to DNN." Not sure what that means.

Here is a generic sample of HTML in a sidebar:

<img alt="" src="images/someimage.jpg" class="main-img">

<div>
    <h2>Header Text</h2>
<p>Paragraph Text<a href="SomePage.aspx">More</a>…</p>
</div>

I have set replaceable parts in the HTML above to bold. I'd like a module that prompts the content editor for the replaceable text.

For example prompt the content editor with three fields:
Image Path: _______________
Header Text: _______________
Paragraph Text: _____________

That way they don't have to proficient in HTML. Or is this over kill?

What is the best way to handle the above style of content? Property Agent or Page/Content Templates?

I do agree most users can accomplish the basics if the page is "laid out" for them. I am not sure how savvy the content editors will be.
