Hi,

I deployed a dotnetnuke (5.01.04) application on client machine with portal alias "servername/app". I want to deploy that application on my local machine also which used the same client database (SQL Server 2005 and database is in cloud). I added a portal alias on client machine "localservername/app". But when i access it through "localservername/app" portal alias it always opened application through "servername/app" client portal alias. Please tell me what is wrong?

Thanks.

Portal Alias are store in the database in Table dbo.PortalAlias
If you want two totally independant site, you need to have a second db in local, with correct PortalAlias in dbo.PortalAlias. And your web.config must have the local connection string.
Web.config have the connection string to db.
db store PortalAlias url
