Hello everyone!

My current situation is this: I'm using a DNN 6.1.03 professional license. My client is using active directory, but the portal is not hosted in the domain. It's hosted in a complete different place (arvixevps to be exact). My problem is: I just want to connect to the active directory but I don't know what to do. I've set up this thing in the past following your documentation. It's pretty easy cause it's very detailed. However, this time (of course) I can't connect to the active directory because the portal is not internally hosted (and my client doesn't want to do so). Is there anything I should ask my client to do for me to connect? I mean I know the domain, but I can't access it because I'm outside the intranet.

Also, you should know that I don't need to set up roles or anything. I just want them to login with their current windows users. In fact, I've no use for active directory at all. I'm just setting this up because I believe it's the only way to do it. The goal I want to achieve is this: I want people from within the intranet to login automatically using their windows user (to a portal that's outside the intranet, arvixevps to be exact). I don't need to set up roles cause they will all be able to access the entire website.

Thanks a lot people, seriously =)

Hey Horacio

Wow, your client isn't making it easy for you are they. :)

I really don't know if you'll be able to get it working. I've seen some information on allowing anonymous connections to the AD via LDAP (something that's not enabled by default) but I have no idea how to implement it or if it will be the solution you need.

A great tool you can use (if you have access to the server that's going to be used as the host) is LDAPBrowser (ldapbrowser.com). If you can get connected with that you should be able to get connected with the AD Provider.

Mike:

Thanks for your answer. Haha you're right, they are not making things easy for us here =).
Anyway, I'm glad you could give me a nice starting point, because I have a very limited understanding of AD. I'll try the LDAP thingy to see if it works.

Thanks a lot.
