Have a weird issue. I am upgrading from 5.6.2 and following the documented suggested upgrade path for versions.

As soon as I go to any version of 6, my root portal site settings look like the attached screenshot.  The other portals when logged in as a super user appear to be ok. It's just the root portal. It may be related, but if I use the Telerik editor on the root portal it doesn't show any files when using the image manager, and there are ton.

I have done all the obvious stuff a bunch of times: Confirmed the identity of the app pool has full access to the folders, also made sure those permissions were set to all sub-folders.  I've even gone as far as giving 'Everyone' access (this is in a test environment) just to see if it works.  No luck.  It's weird. Because you can see it's reading the Skins folder, and i can upload items just fine.

Please check the DotNetNuke Event Log .. Admin --> Event Viewer and post the Exceptions relating to File Permissions that show up.

They'll be headlined in red should be easy to spot..

You can also sort the Event Viewer output to show only exceptions if you have hundreds/thousands of log entries

Hi Ken, there are no exceptions being throw.
I've switched the skin to Dark Knight too, to rule out any possible skin/container issues.

Strictly a Windows permissions system issue.

On your web folders give "IIS_IUSRS" and "Network Service" all permissions except "Ful Control" if on IIS 7, if you're  on IIS 6 or lower it's "Network Service" and "ASP.NET"

I had the same issue this morning. Here's what I did to fix it.

Opened the File Manager (Admin menu)
Check on Recursive and then File sync
Then clicked "Update" button in the file permissions section

Fixed it for me.
