Hi Folks!

I have a need to map a folder from "my" server to the hosting provider's server so that when uploading files through files manager or other means the files end up in different directories (physical servers). The need is justified by:

  1. The hosting provider is limited. I will host the current and actial files there, but large files and historical/old files at "my" server.
  2. The hosting provider is faster. Current pages will load faster, while historical or large files are still accessible.

Is there a way to do this? Any tricks?

Thanks in advance!

Dave

...sorry for duplicate. The site has thrown an error so I thought the last entry didn't post...

Sure

In IIS when you set up the web site when you "Browse" to folders you put in the shared path instead of a local file system path.

Be aware you'll have to actually "Share" out and correctly permission  the remote folder

Sratch my previous response here...

In File Manager just enter the "remote path" to the server\folder combination like:

\\MyServer\MyRemoteFiles\Pics

in the "Folders:" text box in File Manager and click "Add Folder"

You need to make certain your permissions are correct on the Remote Folder

Note:
QA has never  tested nor supported this scenario

Thanks for the answer, Ken

Did I get it right that MyServer doesn't have to be running IIS, but just a file/folder sharing?

...and which user do I give the permission to at MyServer while sharing?
