I have a site that is having issues with concurrent users (when it reaches 30 or more CPU goes to 100% utilization -IIS & SQLSever- ) so I thought it was data intensive. I tried to use the ASP.NET cache object but without real benefit. I also tried to upgrade but to my amaze did not saw any real improvement.

The upgrade path I use was from 5.5.0 then 5.5.1 then 05.06.04 and finally 06.00.02. After each upgrade I made some testing with JMeter (to simulate the loads) but again did not saw any real benefits performance wise.

Any comments?

you can enable the optional client resource management to minimise and combine css/js which will lead to faster loading pages (see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/3262/How-To-Get-The-Most-Out-Of-The-DotNetNuke-6-1-Performance-Improvements.aspx and http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/BlogID/248.aspx ) - however your problem may lie elsewhere (e.g. cpu/ram/database/modules used) - take a look at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/Page/Performance_best_practices.aspx for some performance suggestioins, but often the issue is with some database problem so I recommend running sql profiler to see if you can detect what is the bottleneck (also investigate so see if you have any deadlocks - http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Wiki/loc/allpages/Cat/debugging.aspx )

If you are upgrading from the upgrade is done using the Install New Update wizard from the Tools menu in XenCenter.  If you don’t read the fine print before trying to upgrade you may make the same mistake I did and try to boot to the XenServer 5.6 SP2 media.
