I have installed a DNN site in a sub-folder of a hosting package (which is pointed to my URL) and when I connect to it I get the home page with no formatting.

The DB is working because I can log on as the administrator, however once logged on, none of the links work.

I have hijacked the root URL and loaded my DNN files there, and after altering the portal alias it works well so I know that what I am doing is just about right.

It looks like there is something in Folders set-up I need to change.  Can anyone help please?

Please tell us some more informations.

The non formated content are on what module?
Did you use the standard skin and containers?
What DNN Version you are using?
Is the issue reproduceable on different browsers?
What is the hosting management application?

Had you checked the event log for detailed error messages ?

Thanks

I am using DNN 6.01.04 with Modernbiz skins.

There is absolubtly no formating at all skins or modules.

I have tried it with IE9 and firefox and it is the same both ways.

I am hosting with 123-reg which I think is IIS7

When I go in through www.parentwebsite.com/mydirectory i get the formatting working but DNN cannot log me on.

I have read that DNN does not like being outside of the root directory, but is there a way to make it work.

I can put the url's up if would like to look!

About the login please make sure you have set both connection strings in the web.config file!!!

DNN work also in a virtual directory, where then the virtual directory is the root folder. Aslo it worked on a subfolder if your domain is linked to this subfolder, this means then the subfolder is the new root folder. Make sure you have set read permissions for the IUser (IUsers) witch is used for the annonymous access. And give the User of the Application pool (could be the network service) change, write, read and access (alternative full) permissions. Inherits the permissions to all files and subfolders.

Then you sould can be logon.

If you still have no content on your site, check your site permissions and try to give read permissions to all users. If this also didn't work try if a DNN default skin is worked. If a default skin worked it could be that your custom skin isn't worked with DNN 6 and need modifications.
