Hi all,

I am implementing a business application as a DNN module, which has different kind of views. For this reason I hide the DNN menu and I make use of my in module menu.

As I am planning to offer some mobile functionality as well, I would like to use the DDR Menu with its wonderful mobile js functionality.

From what I understand the DDR Menu automatically loads the menu items from the DB, which in my case is not welcomed.

There is any possibility (explanation how) to use DDR Menu in my module by loading the menu items programmatically (with Multilanguage support)?

I am using DNN 6.0 and planing to move to to DNN 6.1

Thank you,
any suggestion will be appreciated.

Kristijan

Kristijan,
I did not try this yet, but you should be able to do this providing "NodeXmlPath": see the wiki at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W... :

If you want to use a menu template with your own custom page structure, you can supply an XML file to be loaded instead of using the DNN pages. If not specified (see Filenames below) the search order is:

  • Menu folder
  • Skin
  • DesktopModules/DDRMenu
  • Portal root
  • Application root

Let me know if you go into this!

Regards,
al.

Kristijan ,

I just made a quick test, adding NodeXmlPath support to my XMenu module (a simple wrapper to DDRMenu, see http://albe.ihnet.it/Software/XsltDb/...): yes it is possible to provide a custom xml to DDRMenu, and let it build your menu with that data instead of DNN pages.

This is pretty easy: add a NodeXmlPath attribute to your DDRMenu declaration, and let it point to an xml file (virtual url, for example: ~/Portals/0/myxmlmenunodes.xml).
