Hi

I've restricted security and I'm trying to allow a user to use the Documents module.  However, the user can't upload a new document, he can only edit a current document and from that screen, he can upload a new one, replacing the one he's editing.  So he can't add a new document, he can only upload when editing a current one.

Here's what I did:
Created a new role ABC
Added user X to role ABC
Create a new page
Gave role ABC "Edit Page" permissions
Added a new folder
Gave role ABC "Write to folder" permissions
Added a Documents module
Gave role ABC "Edit Module" permissions

Any hints?

Thanks
Guy Barrette

I think this is an IE functionality thing.  Did a little research looking into RO vs RW rights in IE for development.  Until ASP 2, you would have to use WEBDAV  and some API integration in order to accomplish it.  If there is another way, I am not aware of one.

As we are in the middle of an application framework at the office, I can't tell you how sick we get when we read the MSDN stuff on ASP 2.0.  Make us sick to do all that work (because of a deadline) when it will already be done for us soon.  Tiz life I guess!

OK Guys.  Thanks to Barry Pace helping me with this issue, I have finally figured out where the problem is.  Feedback from the team leader would be appreciated with as MANY people there are having this problem.

If a user has Edit rights to more than 1 folder, they can see the upload button when they are in a group that has edit rights to the module.

If a user has Edit rights to just 1 folder, they CANNOT see the upload button when they are in a group that has edit rights to the module.

Has to be in the routine that checks for editing based on the DDL.

Hope that helps!

Go into File Manager and check view/edit folder permissions to the specific security role you want to have access to that folder.
