Eek!

We got a nasty virus on our network so I changed some host passwords as a precaution.
The problem now is that I have managed to lock myself as host out in some way.

OK not the end of the world.
I created a new user, opened the aspnet_membership table and copied the new user account password and salt to my host  row.  The problem is that while I can save the password value I am NOT able to save the slay value

Now I am really worried.  Compounding the problem is that the site is of course on a deadline with some work.

Am I doing something wrong - I copy and paste the value and click execute SQL?

 Any insights gratefully received.

 Thanks

 Ian

Did you try just having it email you the password? You can always make another account a super user account so you change settings, just change the bit flag in the users table "IsSuperUser" to true.

HI Patrick
Thanks for the quick resonse.

Host passwords are never sent by the forgotten PW link - well they are as  ********
I will try doing as you suggest but I think there may be more to creating a super user than that one flag?

The create new user / C+P PW and Salt from new to Host has worked in the past - in fact its about the only method I have ever seen posted (By Sebastian L).  I suppose something has changed in the membership table as I can see no reason why the salt value will not allow itself to be saved.

Will try your suggestion

Thanks

Ian

Just to follow up - there is no IsSuperUser col in aspnet.Users.

Wrong table, it's not the ASP.NET tables, it's a DNN table, probably dbo.Users.
