redirecting is typically done within the site, though there is an option to redirect pages or a site to a url , however this is a fixed value and does not carry the original URL. You could of course use this but it would mean requests such as mysite.com/somepage.aspx and mysite.com/otherpage.aspx would both go to the same url e.g. m.mysite.com

However you can set up a redirection rule to send to another site (portal) so if you created a parent portal (e.g. m.mysite.com) or a child portal (mysite.com/mobile) you could do that. However once you use additional portals you cannot use the copy page/copy module functions as they are site specific (note: we do have cross-portal content sharing on our wishlist but not sure when we will implement it or what form it will take)

As for SEO it's typically not a large concern as search engines will not present as mobile devices so will not redirect to the mobile site i.e. you can focus your SEO on your "desktop" site. Regarding analytics, it's possible to use the same tracking ID on different sites and the analytics program will treat them as the same site but different headers - also most such as google will allow you to combine and segment statistics easily enough

BTW there is a short video on the mobile redirection at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Video-Library/Viewer/VideoId/337/Creating-A-Mobile-Site-With-DotNetNuke-61.aspx if you havent used it.

Hi,

We just added content sharing across portals to digArticle.  We have a client that is currently making a duplicate mobile site that will simply display the data from the "desktop" portal using this feature.

Thanks,

Mike

I used MobiNuke for a long time on PokerDIY for my mobile app (http://www.pokerdiy.com/mob.aspx). It was good for a while but very finicky - eventually the developer did not provide support and I switched to a separate site based solution - it is a lot easier to manage in terms of WYSWYG but it's possible more work depending on the site requirements. For example - I have not got time to duplicate every single page for mobile whereas with the MobiNuke approach I could just check a few boxes.

It's the same arguement for localisation IMHO - the old way of doing it was much easier (resx files - one module, one page)  + URL Master Culture embedded in the URL for SEO reasons. Having a separate site for mobile and for Spanish and for Spanish mobile all starts to get a bit hectic...
