This could be a silly question but I'm stuck on this one, so I must make this question.

I've always configured the SMTP Server Settings without any trouble with many differentes email providers (gmail, godaddy, personal servers) but I'm trying to configure a server with Yahoo! and the "Test SMTP Settings" always give me an error (a different one depending the configuration I'm trying).

By now the configuration used is:

SMTP Server and port: smtp.mail.yahoo.com (with ports 995, 465 and default)

SMTP Authentication: Anonymous, Basic, NTLM

SMTP Enable SSL: Yes and No.

User and Password: A valid one when requested.

Can anyone help me with this? I know it sounds simple, but as I said first, I'm stuck on this.

Thanks

Hi Luis,

Afaik, a basic Yahoo account only allows you to use the webmail client directly through Yahoo's website. Unless they have changed things recently, you would need to upgrade to their paid mail service in order to connect to it externally. You may want to consider an alternative such as Gmail or your hosts e-mail service to set up SMTP for your DNN site.

Hello Ricardo,

Thanks a lot  for your answer. My client wants to use the Yahoo! account but if it's not possible then the hosting account is a good option.

Thanks again for your quick and accurate answer
