Hi,

is it possible to add a CSS stylesheet (or a reference to a stylesheet) to the newsletters? How?

Best wishes
Michael

The core Newsletter module?

I have set up several content templates (using CK Editor), each of which has a specific set of styles embedded - no reason why such templates couldn't reference a file instead though. If you wanted to manually add it, you could just jump into the text editor source and add the CSS file reference there. Or you could get really funky and add a button to your editor to allow linking up a stylesheet.

The trouble with email is that many email programs block externally linked files for security reasons - this is true of any linked content... most notably, images and css. So, you have to embed your css in your message.

Next, email clients are kind of a pain on standards. The way I usually explain it in brief is to say that it's best to just assume your recipients have a 5-10 year old browser... A lot works, but you can't do many fancy things.

Some clients will also change odd things you wouldn't expect.

So, embed all your stuff, assume images won't show, and test your templates a lot.

Thanks for the answer.

It's exactly what I have done - adding < style type="text/css" >....< /style > in the HTML section. Some of the styles (like blockquote) were displayed correctly, but most of them were simply ignored by the mail client (Outlook in this case).

The preview displays the newsletter exactly as it shoud, and the < style >-Block is visible in the source view of the mail.

Is this only an issue with Outlook? Is there a way to avoid this behaviour?

Best wishes
Michael
