Hi, i hope someone can help with this issue. When i install DNN the installation goes without errrors but when i log in into the portal a lot of the modules are missing. Also the default content like (links, books, etc..) is missing as well. All i see when i log in is a blank page. But this is happening only on some machines, so the installation package would work on one machine but not on the other. Here is the installation process on the machine that doesn't work. I notice that the modules are installed twice. Does anyone know why is this happening? Thanks in advance for all the help.

I am having the same issue.  Using the same SQL server but working with several different databases and different domains.  The first 2 I did worked alright, the last couple I have done have not.  I've deleted the database, removed all files and reuploaded and ran the install again...same thing each time...

Out of curiousity, any reason you are installing 4.0.2?  I noticed a similar issue of the blank main page - even though I never changed the template used.  I only noticed this on 4.0.2 version though, and it still had the modules. 

Did you try with 4.03 or the latest 4.3.1?

I don't think it's specific to install versions.  I have a 4.3.1 site that's doing this as well as a 4.0.3 (because of a module I'm using that doesn't work with 4.3.1 yet).  I've created the site through my webhosting provider as I always do, enable ASP 2.x on the sites, create databases for them and then have my provider set permissions for me.  Then I load the files, run the install (completely error free) and get a portal.  However, the content panes of the HOME tab aren't there, and I cannot login.  I've retraced the steps several times (now and then I CAN login to the site..sometimes I can, but the front modules are consistently missing).

I have 10 or so DNN sites from 1.x, 2.x, 3.x and 4.x in place so I know my provider knows how to set permissions.  Any ideas?

I am also having the same issue. I am using v 4.3.1 and everything installed fine on my localhost (IIS 5.1, XP sp2) and also on Win 2K3, IIS 6.0. However, uploading to a remote site (goDaddy.com), I install and only get 5 modules (consistently the same 5 modules regardless of how many times I've installed). I have tried uploading modules, but I can't seem to get this to work either.  Can anyone provide a step by step on uploading modules? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
