cant install dnn version 6.2 in a virtual directory under my site root.

the virtual  directory name is - mydnn

so the url is http://mysitename/mydnn

but i am getting-

500 - Internal server error

plz help

That's a generic server error.. it's telling you it cannot find anything in the current path set in IIS

Check the path you setup in IIS.. if it doesn't actually end at the web site folder you'll never get anything to render in the browser

Check the permissions on the folder in which you have the web site files. 

The account you use for permissions should be the same on the web folder, IIS and SQL

 thanks for reply.hope u help me further.. From my VP
S server in IIS i created the virtual directory by right clicking on my website and set it application pool to defaultapppool because my site apppool was asp.net4(integrated).then in the virtual directory i placed some asp.net files and when i accessed via browser writing the url as http://mysitename/virdirectoryname then those files loaded but when i removed those files and placed dnn install package files to install dnn then the error i get i wrote....and FYI i set permission to the folder both read and write.

so please tell me other ways......

VPS Server.. are you in a shared hosting enviroment?

You have to modify the path in IIS

If you just have http://mysitename/virdirectoryname, then you put a file folder named DNN below it with the DNN files then you must alter the path in IIS to be <Drive:>\mysitename\virdirectoryname\DNN

Else your web server is looking in <Driver:>\mysitename\virdirectoryname which is empty

hi ken

how i modify path for my virtual directory ?? plese tell me steps..and my is VPS server not shared hosting.also to be clear from my server control panel i created a folder say dnn and then from my server's(logging in to my server by remote desktop connection) IIS i created a virtual directory pointing to that dnn folder.

so please help
