The application name has no relation to IIS - this application name is used to store membership data in the database because the membership database can supply services to multiple applications.

Is the web.config applicationName= the same Application Name referenced in IIS?  I mean, should they be the same?  If so, I may have made an App Name (and alias name) change sometime since my first 4.0.3 install, and maybe this is leading to my trouble with the upgrade to 4.3.0 ...

CoolKiwiBloke: Thanks for your help; I appreciate it.  What worked for you isn't working for me.  I think I'd like to try the solution that worked for GertJensen (above): export from 4.0.3, then clean install of 4.3.0, then import.

Hello,

I have solved my problem by restoring the Database and the Dotnet web site,

Then Exported all Sub sites with contens.

Deleted everything and yust done a new install, then imported everything again.

King Regards Gert

Hi Gert,

I'm new to DNN and SQL, and I don't really understand how to export/import as you mentioned above.  Since I did get a good, clean 4.3.0 installation (when UPGRADE failed, as described above), I would like to try to import my 4.0.3 database into 4.3.0 clean install.  Is that what you did?  Could you please describe how you do that export/import in more detail?  I have used SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express: can that help me do the export/import of tables, etc?

If a problem can be solved, there's no use worrying about it.
If it can't be solved, worrying will do no good.
