Hi,

I use Form & List on a page to display members with a link to the profile page. The links are looking OK:

h_ttp://.../UserProfile/tabid/43/userId/11/Default.aspx
h_ttp://.../UserProfile/tabid/43/userId/33/Default.aspx
h_ttp://.../UserProfile/tabid/43/userId/13/Default.aspx
etc.

When I'm logged in it always redirects me to my own profile page. When not logged in, it works fine and the correct profile page is displayed.

Any ideas?

Also: When I'm not logged in and change the userId parameter in the address to 1 or 2, I get the Host or Admin profile respectively. Can I avoid this?

I also tried this using the member directory module - same effect.

Another question: Is it possible to filter the members by role in any way?

(Using DNN 6.2.0)

Best wishes
Michael

the user profile consists of a number of pages -most of these have code to check if the viewing user is the actual user and if not redirect i.e. you should not be able to see another users messages so it will redirect to yours (or if youre not logged in will not show anything). However the "home" page of the profile should not redirect as it's intended to show your public profile (and the values shown can be controlled by profile property visibility settings which you can control by editing your profile e.g. I can go to http://www.dotnetnuke.com/User-Profil... and see your profile and the details you choose to share publically.

As such altering the userid does not violate security and using that to view the host/admin does not reveal any sensitive information such as the username or password.

As for role filtering in the membership directory that is not in 6.2.0 release, I believe it will be added soon - perhaps not 6.2.1 as we're focussed on bugs, but perhaps 6.2.2.

Cathal,

the point is: here on the DNN site it works as expected. When I cllick your name I am redirected to view your profile page.

On the site I am talking about, I always redirected to my own profile page, no matter if I click a profile link in the Form and List module, the Member Directory module or the Forum module - except when I am not logged in, then it works like here.

Is there any setting, or what can I do to have this behaviour also for logged-in users?

Best wishes
Michael

no, there is no setting, it should just work  -this is not the first report I've seen of this problem (though most of them mention a threadabortexception in admin->event viewer, which would suggest a response.redirect is being triggered as a condition is incorrectly evaluated) -i thought this was logged but I had a quick look at the 6.2.1 roadmap and can't see it (http://support.dotnetnuke.com/project...)

As I said there were similar problems to this discussed at http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/F... - some of those users resolved it by setting the user profile page under admin->site settings , perhaps you could double check

Hi Cathal,

The user profile page is the standard page preselected by DNN.I realized that the page name is "Benutzerprofl" (as the dropdownlist in the Site Settings is obviously localized), and the page name is "User Profile". I changed it to the German title, but that did not help in any way.

It is not true in may case that this only affects "old" users that were registered before the update to 5.2. The same thing also happens for users that were registered after the update.

I changed the profile page in the admin settings to any other page and changed it back - no change in the behaviour.

I created a new page on the site with a ViewProfile module - after making it to the profile page in the admin settings this seems to work, but is exactly the opposite of the solution in the other thread.

Best wishes
Michael
