 After upgrading from 5.6.7 to 6.1.5, I am getting the following exception. After the exception, reloading the exact same page works fine. It stays fine until the application pool recycles, then the exception happens again.

Any thoughts on a solution would be appreciated!

please make sure, you have latest version of XML module installed.

Yep, that was it. Sigh. I had to reinstall my first go around at upgrading and neglected to reinstall the XML file.
