I'm currently using Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2008 Web, and am looking to upgrade.

I'd like to know if it would be better to use Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 or Windows Web Server 2008 R2 as I'm really not sure of the difference between the two and how it may affect DotNetNuke.

I am thinking of also moving to SQL Server 2012 Web.  Would that be a good step to make also?

Thanks

Hi David,

Windows Web Server 2008 R2 would work just fine for DNN as it mainly relies on whether or not IIS is available and configured to host the application. I can't say that I am familiar with Windows HPC Server but my guess is that it would work as well so long as IIS is available as well as the .NET Framework.

As for SQL Server 2012, we have been running SQL Server 2012 for any of our new deployments and it works great.

Standard or enterprise edition for windows server would be the most popular choice. R2 would be the best.
