I have DNN installed as a value application on my Go-Daddy hosted site.

I want new members to be sent a verification code to confirm their email address, but the emails are not being sent.

How do I go about fixing this?

Any help appreciated.

First thing to do is goto the Host Settings page and down the bottom ofthe page go to Advanced and STP settings and hit the test link.  This should send you an email, if it doesnt then Go Daddy tech supportneeds to be approached to fix the issue.

Same subject. I want a verification code to be sent when a user registers. Using DNN 4.0.2 on WebHost4Life.

So I go to Host Settings -> Advanced Settings -> SMTP Settings
and enter the details. I select Basic authentication and my Username is just the part before the @ sign in the email address. I click test and it works fine and I receive the test email.

Then I try and register a user and in the Error Log I get:
InnerException: Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: <xxx@xxx.com> No such user here

Which is correct because there is no such user. However, I don't have that email address registered to any of the users on DNN so it's a mystery where it gets it from...?

Any idea where it is picking up the information to log on the SMTP mail user and to send the email?

I was having this exact issue. I received the test message, but my users did not receive registration codes or password reminders or anything. Under the SMTP settings, I had my admin email address right and SMTP server right (mail.myservername.com in my case), and it worked in sending me a test. This was allowed because my admin email address is from the same domain as my SMTP server. However my password had not been saved.

Here's the fix for my problem: I had to enter my username (my entire email address in my case) and my password and make sure I had basic authentication selected. This may very for some, but it's likely a pretty standard scenario.

Thank you - I think I understand how you fixed it and you've given me an idea how to approach this. Unfortunately I can't try anything right now because I've broken the site during and upgrade from 4.0.2 to 4.3.1 so I need to fix that first.

Thanks again!
