I am using DNN6.2.1.

I apologize if this is answered elsewhere - I looked here and many other places and seemed to get close, but my site is accessible and I can actually browse to the location about which the system is complaining.

I have a DNN instance setup following the guidance Chris gave in his tutorials and locally accessible at http://dnndev.  Using Visual Studio 2010, I created a DNN Module project.  The structure creates beautifully, but it can never fully install because of an error.

My error: The Web Application Project Admissions is configured to use IIS. The Web server 'http://dnndev/desktopmodules/Admissions/' could not be found.

I am probably missing something quite basic.  I appreciate any feedback people are willing to provide.

Thanks

I am having the same exact problem.  I posted a similar question two days ago and hope an answer will come soon, because I've spent weeks trying to figure it out. Meanwhile, I am continuing to search the forums.

I think this might help.  These steps work with Visual Studio 2010 and DotNetNuke v6.2.2.

1.      Unzip "DotNetNuke C_ CompiledModule.zip" and extract the files.
2.      You will see a file called, "ModuleName.csproj".
3.      Open this file in Notepad and find “dnndev” in two places.
4.      Change it to suit your needs.
5.      Save the project file and zip the files back up.
6.      Put the zip file into the Visual Studio 2010 template folder as usual.

While you have the zip file opened, you could also edit another file called,
"DotNetNuke C# Compiled Module.vstemplate".

See Customizing a Visual Studio Project Template here:
http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/W...

I have been frustrated that there is no documentation alerting one to edit the Visual Studio project file, because it is not reasonable to assume everyone will host their website at http://dnndev/. I would like to see instructions added to the web page (linked above), "Customizing a Visual Studio Project Template."

Good luck!
David

Thanks, David.  The URL dnndev is accessible and returns the correct site, so I am using an URL that works for me.  I am fine editing the vs project file, and have so many iis sites on my dev machine, the dnndev naming scheme fits quite nicely for me.

I allowed file browsing to ensure the full URL worked.  So it seems to be hooked up, but the IDE does not like something.

Thanks

Did you uncheck the option to create a directory for this module?
